NEWSROOM PCCA CANADA ANNOUNCES KENT MacLEOD, BScPharm AS THE 2009 COMPOUNDING PHARMACIST OF THE YEAR!
Kent is one of the leading world authorities on the impact of nutrition on the biochemistry of individual disease states. Well-known for his expertise in Bio-Identical Hormone replacement and women’s issues, he has the unique ability to simplify the complex aspects of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical approaches so that patients walk away not only healthier but also better educated about their ailment. Kent attended the University of Toronto and received his Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1980. He has continued his education by attending PCCA events annually; he also sends his staff to events so the pharmacy as a whole continues to offer patients in Ottawa the very best medication available. Kent has owned Nutri-Chem Pharmacy in Ottawa, ON for almost 30 years, and is founder and president of the International Centre for Metabolic Testing (ICMT); which is the first Canadian clinical laboratory for metabolic and nutritional testing. Kent is also the founder and Clinical Director of Nutrichem Biomedical Centre where over 200 assays are performed on blood and urine – looking at nutrients, hormone levels and brain chemistry. With the information found, individual compounds of nutrients and hormones can be formulated to meet individual requirements. Kent is a previous recipient of the Ontario Pharmacists Association Distinguished Practice Award as well as the 2004 Outstanding Service Award for Innovation. He is the author of a book entitled: “Down Syndrome and Vitamin Therapy: Unlocking the Secrets of Health, Behavior and Intelligence”.
